PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Colonel M Yaseen is a former Indian Army, Dy Judge Advocate General and an experienced legal professional with over three decades of military and legal experience. Directly commissioned into the Judge Advocate General's Department in August 1991, he has held a wide range of military legal and litigation appointments, advising senior commanders on matters of military law, discipline, court martial and service matters.

His rich professional experience includes conducting General Court Martial involving Officers and Personnel Below Officer Rank, providing legal instruction at the National Defense Academy, Pune, and representing service interests before judicial and quasi-judicial forums. He has also held important litigation appointments and advised senior Corps & Army Commanders on diverse legal matters.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Legal Advisor — Botswana Defense Force, Botswana, Africa (2004-07) :

Served as Legal Advisor to the Botswana Defense Force (BDF) for over three years, providing legal advice and conducting legal training for officers and personnel of the Botswana, Mozambique and South African Defense Forces.

MILITARY LEGAL & LITIGATION EXPERIENCE

Served in diverse military legal appointments, including as Deputy Judge Advocate General at the only tri-service command, Andaman & Nicobar Command (A&N Command) at Port Blair, and in other key litigation appointments. Provided legal advice to Corps and Army Commanders on matters related to discipline, service matters, courts martial, land laws, the Cantonment Act and other applicable laws, while also handling matters concerning Human Rights and contract law.

Held appointments including Officer-in-Charge of Legal Cells at the Delhi High Court and Jabalpur High Court, AJAG (Litigation) at Army Headquarters and Colonel Litigation at HQ Western Command (HQWC), and HQ South Western Command (HQSWC), representing the Union of India before various High Courts and the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
